My parents are from Manchester and I grew up in Australia eating potatoes with most meals and homemade chips fried in a chip pan, to the bemusement of my Australian friends. The only person I know who still fries chips in a chip pan is my Nana. I never much embraced frying once I lived alone. I’m not sure it would be good for me to have unlimited access to homemade chips, not being much for self deprivation, so I fry food once a year during Chanukah but do so in spectacular style with homem
