So German! This cake is famous all over the world, though in many places you can’t get good curd cheese, so cream cheese is used instead. The cake is really easy to make and tastes fantastic. You can vary the dried fruit if you like – apricots are particularly good in this.

For the base

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas 5. Soak the raisins in the liqueur for 30 minutes. Butter a springform 30cm/12in cake tin (pan).
