As any one over the age of thirty remembers, Fuller’s tearooms used to be the place for an afternoon treat. The highspot of tea was the famous walnut cake, moist yet crumbly, with thick snow-white icing. The halved nuts sitting on top were spaced, blessedly, quite far apart: and each wedge, of course, had its own nut in the centre of its very broad end.
